I got my 5 year old on board with cleaning out his toys by offering to pay him, like it was an extra chore. He was VERY excited and it was worth the 75 cents I paid him. Although I’m not sure that’s a great lesson to teach or expectation to set…

Diana!! Look at you all caught up on blog posts.

Ugh, so sorry about your basement, but excited for you to make the most of the space now. and yes, I feel you on the toys. Rory’s birthday is coming up so we need to do a purge before more stuff comes into the house.

What a huge improvement in 6 months! We recently had our first basement flood in 17 years and I told my husband about your basement flood, ours was a bit of a disaster but at least didn’t have sewage! And now my husband on reworking spaces down there too!
I’ve been tackling organization in our boys’ shared room recently so I feel you on the toy storage. Despite our best intentions, they accumulate so much! Always feels good to make progress on organizing & purging those though!
Finally (I have a lot to say today, on the day you posted even! I’m on top of things!), I did a travel gallery wall going up our stairs and it was the hardest gallery I’ve done! Getting that angle right and figuring out the space I had to work with! It was a lot but so satisfying to get it right and finished!

Thank you so much, Kerri! It really has come a long way in just 6 months.

Rory goes to school during the week and Ellis goes two days a week (he plays in our living room during the week instead). On the weekends (and post 5pm) we are all down here together!
Agreed, it would be impossible to work with the kids playing down here.

Do the kids not play down there during the day? I know my hubs can’t work with the kids around, so I assume not. We also have different play zones which helps keep things fresh! But just curious how that works for you
